Mental Wellbeing
Welcome to the webpages dedicated to the programmes that support mental health and well-being.
Mental Health First Aid is exactly what it suggests, a first aid approach to mental health. Originally conceived by Betty Kitchener and Professor Tony Jorm in Australia, it is a training resource that enables people to recognise the first symptons of mental health illness and advice on how to guide people to obtaining professional help.
The Wellbeing Programme supports London NHS Primary Care Trusts (PCT) to improve the mental health and wellbeing of their populations. This includes supporting them to reduce suicide rates, encourage smoking cessation and promote physical health to those with a mental illness.
The Mental Health and Social Inclusion programme works to support people with experience of mental illness to be more included through improved opportunities to find work or other meaningful occupation and stable housing.
