Suicide Prevention

The remit for the Wellbeing Programme includes suicide prevention. Saving Lives: Our Healthier Nation (DH 1999) set a target to reduce suicide rates within England  by 20% by 2010 and we are helping Primary Care Trusts to achieve this.

A review of plans

Current projects include a London wide review, due late 2009, of all PCT Suicide Prevention plans.  Following this review, the best ideas from across London will be pulled together in a time saving template that will make it easier and quicker for PCTs to write, share and act upon a suicide prevention plan.

Conference

In March 2010 Working for Wellness will be running a seminar on Suicide Prevention.  The aim is to bring together leading speakers to inspire an audience of key PCT staff with new ideas and successful case studies; a chance to get the little grey cells going before the creation of the 2010 Suicide Prevention plans.
