The programme is commissioned by the Deparment of Health (DH) and works in partnership with the Department for Education (DfES) as well as other key local stakeholders, including NHS London. The programme is designed to support the implementation of the Every Child Matters agenda and the National Service Framework (NSF) for Children, Young People and Maternity Services.

The national programme is designed to tackle the health inequalities experienced by people within the criminal justice system. It has concentrated primarily on prison inmates, but recent intiatives have begun to focus on the needs of offenders in all parts of the criminal justice system.

Our main aims are to improve the quality of life of people of all ages who experience mental distress and to develop the capacity, skills and knowledge of provider and commissioning organisations.

The overriding aim of the LDC Social Care programme, which began in Summer 2006, is to promote social care in the London regio by developing networks and partnership working. The national programme, based around the implementation of the White Paper Our Health, Our Care, Our Say.

One of London CSIP's most valuable characteristics is its ability to apply 'cross-cutting' approaches to its work with partners: health and social care agencies, local government, users and carers and voluntary sector organisations.
