Children, Young People & Families Programme
The Children and Families Programme aims to improve the health and well being of Children and Young People in London.
The programme supports the delivery of the NHS operating framework, the implementation of the National Service Framework for Children and Maternity Services and the wider Every Child Matters agenda.
The funding for the programme comes through two routes via the Strategic Health Authority: NHS London and Central Government through the Department of Health and Department for Children, Schools and Families.
The programme has a number of strands including Maternity Services, Disabled Children, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, Early Years and Safeguarding.
The development of commissioning as a way of improving outcomes for children and young people is a key theme that runs through the programme.
The programme promotes the principle of involvement of children, young people and parents an carers to shape service development and for services to respond to diverse needs within communities.
The programme works closely with a range of partners including the Children and Learners Team at Government Office for London and through the Strategic Children and Young Peoples Board with the Association of Directors of Children Services and Primary Care Trust Chief Executives.
